Let Us Be Your Guide
At Midwest Fertility Center we offer a variety of treatments. To discover what is right for you book a consultation.
IVF – Helps couples experiencing infertility conceive by fertilizing an egg with sperm outside the body and implanting the resulting embryo in the uterus. Book Consultation.
Egg Freezing – Egg freezing preserves a woman’s fertility potential by pausing the aging of her eggs, giving her more options for future pregnancy through in vitro fertilization (IVF). Book Consultation.
Tubal Ligation Reversal –
Reopens blocked fallopian tubes after sterilization, allowing natural pregnancy by reconnecting the passage for egg and sperm to meet. Book Consultation.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection – ICSI bypasses sperm penetration issues by directly injecting a single sperm into an egg, increasing fertilization chances for couples facing male infertility or previous IVF failure. Book Consultation.
Male Fertility – Issues can range from low sperm count or poor quality to blockages or hormonal imbalances, hindering the sperm’s ability to fertilize an egg. Book Male Fertility Test
Assisted Hatching –
Aims to improve implantation by creating a small opening in the embryo’s outer shell, potentially aiding its escape and increasing pregnancy chances for specific infertility circumstances. Book Consultation.
Blastocyst Transfer – Increase pregnancy success rates by transferring a more developed embryo (at the blastocyst stage) with higher implantation potential, potentially reducing multiple pregnancies and mirroring the natural timing of implantation. Book Consultation.
Cryopreservation – Allows for the long-term storage of eggs, sperm, embryos, or tissues through freezing, offering options for future fertility treatments, preserving genetic materials for research, or potentially enabling future medical advancements. Book Consultation.
Gamete Intra Fallopian Transfer -A type of assisted reproductive technology (ART) that helps couples with infertility conceive by placing both eggs and sperm directly into the fallopian tubes, allowing fertilization to occur naturally within the woman’s body. Book Consultation.
Surrogacy – Allows individuals or couples unable to carry a pregnancy themselves to have biological children by involving a gestational carrier who carries the fertilized egg to term. Book Consultation.
Advanced Fertility Testing – Unlock hidden causes of infertility sooner, offering personalized treatment paths and potentially higher success rates for achieving pregnancy. Book Consultation
Gynecological Health – Regular gynecological reviews empower you to manage symptoms, catch concerns early, and safeguard your fertility – all in one visit. Book Consultation.
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis – Tackles the risk of passing on inherited genetic disorders by analyzing embryos before implanting, allowing selection of those unaffected for potential pregnancy. Book Consultation.
Laparoscopic Neosalpingostomy – Corrects blocked fallopian tubes, a major cause of female infertility, by performing minimally invasive surgery to reopen them, increasing the chances of natural conception. Book Consultation
Frozen Embryo Transfer – unlocks a second chance at pregnancy by thawing and implanting embryos previously preserved, offering renewed hope and flexibility for family planning. Book Consultation

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) & Assisted Reproduction Treatments
The field of assisted reproduction comprises a number of recently developed treatments aimed at achieving pregnancy. Some of the treatments performed by our doctors in Chicago and Northwest Indiana include: in vitro fertilization (IVF), gamete intra fallopian transfer (GIFT), intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), assisted hatching, and blastocyst transfer.
These treatments require major effort and commitment from both the patient and the medical team (the laboratory director, the nurses, the physician, and our assistants). A thorough understanding of the program improves everyone’s chances of a successful outcome.
Phases of Assisted Reproduction
All of the various assisted reproduction treatments performed by Midwest Fertility Center include four phases:
- Preparatory Cycle
- Stimulation
- Retrieval
- Transfer and Post-Transfer Treatment
Preparatory Cycle
Phases of Assisted Reproduction
In the month prior to the IVF hormone stimulation cycle, medications (usually including injections) are given to prepare your body for the stimulation drugs. In most cases the medications are given to suppress your body’s natural hormones so that the stimulation medications may be more precisely controlled.
Stimulation
Phases of Assisted Reproduction
Before starting your stimulation to begin egg production, we will test your hormone levels and perform an ultrasound. Should the results be favorable, the stimulation will be initiated. Stimulation is achieved by the administration of two shots each day of gonadotropins.During the stimulation process you will require an ultrasound and a blood test at least every other day. When the ovaries are ready, you will receive an HCG injection. The egg retrieval process will take place 36 to 38 hours after the HCG shot. All other injectable medication is discontinued on the day of the HCG administration.
Retrieval & Transfer
Phases of Assisted Reproduction
The egg retrieval procedure will be performed while you are under IV sedation with ultrasound guidance. A fresh sperm sample will be required to fertilize and subsequently incubate the oocytes (eggs).
The developing embryos will be transferred into the uterus when they have reached the appropriate developmental phase. In all treatments except for GIFT, embryo transfer is performed in a process that is similar to a routine pelvic exam.
After the transfer of the embryos, you may require an additional HCG shot. You will need nightly injections of progesterone. You will also be monitored with blood tests after the transfer to ensure that your body maintains adequate hormone levels. Ultrasounds may also be required to monitor ovarian size.
