Tubal Ligation Reversal (Laparoscopic Tubal Reversal) and IVF

If you had a Tubal Ligation, you have two options to achieve pregnancy: Tubal Ligation Reversal and In-Vitro Fertilization.

For most patients who underwent Tubal Ligation, our technique of Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation Reversal (laparoscopic tubal anastomosis) may be less expensive and more effective than In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and should be the first choice for them.

One of the benefits of Tubal Ligation Reversal is that following a successful treatment, patients may have one or more pregnancies without the need for further treatment and expense. In addition, our technique of Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation Reversal has resulted in one of the highest success rates in the world. Our procedure:

  1. avoids the possible complications from drugs used in In Vitro Fertilization

  2. reduces the risk of complications due to multiple pregnancies

  3. costs $8,000- generally less than one IVF cycle (let alone multiple cycles as is often necessary)

  4. provides an above average success rate (if you are 35 or younger with two good tubes)

  5. allows us to treat other gynecologic conditions at the time of surgery

For these reasons, we believe our technique of laparoscopic tubal ligation reversal is the best and most cost-effective option for most patients.

Our center has a unique advantage in helping you.  Most fertility centers specialize in either the surgical repair of the tubes or in IVF. We can offer both, so we can objectively assess the treatment option most suitable for you, and offer you the best solution.

IVF may be better for patients who have been diagnosed with certain types of infertility or who do not have sufficient tubal tissue for reversal, as well as when the husband/partner has very low sperm count. For this reason, we perform a careful evaluation of each patient prior to recommending a course of treatment.
